‘Make your own’ energy balls, .... all get the once over from the Fitpro review crew.
Given that whole food energy balls are generally a premium product and usually retail for around £2 each, these bags of ‘make your own’ work out at good value. One bag makes around seven balls.
The ingredients are all tasty and made from a natural array of produce, which includes sunflower seeds, dates, desiccated coconut, water coconut oil and cacao powder and nibs. There are no free sugars in this, although all those dates mean the carb content is fairly high.
They are tasty and you can add to them by rolling them in nuts once they’re formed into a ball. Wrap in some cling film and chill in the fridge for half an hour and you’re good to go. Though they’re not convenient to eat on the move, they’re a good alternative if you don’t have time to assemble your own ingredients from scratch.
